RetroSnake does not collect your personal information. Not any of it. There is no account, no sign-in, no advertising, no analytics, no cookies and no tracking. Once the game has loaded it makes no network request to anyone.
Your high score, your leaderboard and your achievements are saved in your own browser, on your own device, and are never sent anywhere. Clearing your browser data or uninstalling the app erases them completely, because we hold no copy and cannot restore them.
RetroSnake is published by JL Reynders, trading as JLR Dev, Bloemfontein, Free State, South Africa. For anything in this policy, including any request about your information, write to jan-louis@jlrdev.co.za.
For the purposes of the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA), the responsible party is JL Reynders, trading as JLR Dev and the Information Officer is JL Reynders, reachable at the same address. Where the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 applies, JL Reynders, trading as JLR Dev would be the controller - though, as set out below, no personal data is processed.
Nothing. We operate no server that receives your data, no database of players and no logging of how you play. We cannot identify you, and we cannot link one visit to another.
There is no online leaderboard. The leaderboard inside the game lists only scores made on this device, and it is never uploaded or compared with anyone else's.
The game keeps a small amount of information in your browser's local storage so that closing the tab does not lose your progress. This never leaves your device.

How to erase all of it: in your browser, clear site data for retrosnake.jlrdev.co.za; or uninstall the app. There is nothing to ask us to delete, because we never received it.
After a good game, RetroSnake may ask once whether you want notifications. You are asked a single time, and your answer - whichever it is - is remembered so that you are not asked again.
If you allow them, the notification is generated on your own device by the game itself. There is no push server, no subscription and no token: nothing about you is registered with us, with Google or with anyone else. If you decline or ignore the request, nothing happens at all. You can change your mind at any time in your browser's or your phone's site settings.
RetroSnake shows no adverts. It runs no analytics or measurement script of any kind, and it sets no cookies. We do not fingerprint your device and we run no A/B tests.
The typefaces the game uses are served from our own domain rather than from a font provider, specifically so that loading the game does not disclose your IP address to a third party.
If any of this ever changes, this policy is rewritten and re-dated before the change ships - not afterwards.
The game contains one outbound link, to a Ko-fi page where you may choose to
buy the developer a coffee. Following it takes you to ko-fi.com,
which is run by Ko-fi Labs Ltd and has its own privacy policy and its own
payment handling. We never see your card details, and we receive no personal
information about you from Ko-fi. Nothing is loaded from Ko-fi unless you click
the link - it is an ordinary link, not an embedded widget.
The game is served by Cloudflare Pages. As with any website, Cloudflare necessarily handles the request that delivers the files to you, and processes connection data such as your IP address to do so and to protect the service from abuse. We do not receive that data, and no analytics product is enabled on this site. Cloudflare acts as our operator under POPIA and as a processor under the GDPR.
If you installed RetroSnake from Google Play, Google is an independent controller of whatever it collects about your download and your device under its own privacy policy. That relationship is between you and Google; we do not receive your account details from them.
RetroSnake is suitable for all ages and collects nothing from anyone, children included. Because no personal information is collected at all, no parental consent mechanism is required, and there is nothing held about a child that a parent would need to ask us to delete.
Under POPIA ยงยง23-25 you may ask what personal information we hold about you, and ask for it to be corrected or deleted. Under GDPR arts 15-21 you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection.
Our honest answer to any such request will be that we hold nothing, because the game never sends us anything. You are welcome to ask, and we will say so in writing.
If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za), or to your own supervisory authority in the EU or the UK.
If this policy changes, the effective date at the top changes with it and the new version is published here before the change takes effect.
